#2 Fanshawe Makes it Ten in a Row with Win Over Sault

(London, Ontario) – The #2 CCAA ranked Fanshawe Women's Basketball team (14-1) extended their winning streak to ten games after a 93-33 home victory over Sault College (0-14) on Sunday afternoon.

 

The first quarter opened with a Natalie Warren (London, ON) three pointer for the Falcons. Fanshawe continued to hit from behind the arc with made shots from Chuot Angou (London, ON) and Mary Ingribelli (St. Catherine's, ON). The Sault worked hard to keep pace with the Falcons, but after the opening quarter the score was 25-13 for the home team. In the second frame, strong cuts to the basket by Jessica Jordan (Chatham, ON) resulted in points for Fanshawe. Kaitie Dampier (Thunder Bay. ON) would then knock down a triple of her own for the red and white to make the score 52-22 at the half.

 

Fifth-year forward Maddy Kielar (Newmarket, ON) had a stellar third quarter, scoring 10 points for the Falcons. Kaleigh Morris (London, ON) contributed 7 points to extend Fanshawe's lead to 73-29 after the third frame. Solid defense for the home team held the Cougars to only 4 points in the final quarter. Freshman forward duo Alison Cotton (London, ON) and Mackenzie Van Dyk (Parkhill, ON) combined for 5 steals for the Falcons. Fanshawe moved the ball very well offensively, notching a school record for most assists in a game with 35, out of 39 made field goals. Sydney Kendellen (London, ON) and Angou had 6 assists each, while Kielar had a career and game-high 14 points. Every player on the Falcons' squad scored at least two points in the contest.

 

Fanshawe will look to continue their winning ways on Thursday, January 31, when they will host the Mohawk Mountaineers (4-10) at 6pm.
