#2 Fanshawe Women’s Basketball Defeats Redeemer

(London, Ontario) – The #2 CCAA ranked Fanshawe Women's Basketball team (11-1) defeated the Redeemer Royals (4-9) in their first home game of second semester by a score of 76-48.

 

The Royals came out strong to start the game as the teams traded baskets in the first quarter. The Falcons were led offensively by Kaleigh Morris (London, ON), who had a team-high six points in the opening quarter. In the second frame, Chuot Angou (London, ON) knocked down back-to-back three pointers to give Fanshawe a 34-24 lead going into the locker room.  

 

The Falcons came out of the break flying, as the home squad went on a 22-2 run to open the third quarter. Fanshawe got points from behind the arc from London native Mikhaila Wright and Mary Ingribelli (St. Catherine's, ON). Despite Redeemer's best efforts in the fourth quarter, the Falcons would seal the deal on a triple from Sydney Kendellen (London, ON) and go on to win the game 76-48. Angou led the red and white with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists.

 

The Falcons will be in tough this upcoming weekend when they travel to take on #11 nationally ranked Humber in Etobicoke on Sunday afternoon. The next home game for Fanshawe will be on Saturday, January 26 at 5pm against Sault College. The game will be a part of Fanshawe Athletics annual Falcons Fest event, a quad-header with free food and Falcons swag for fans while supplies last.
