(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Women's Basketball team (4-1) dropped their first game of the season on Tuesday evening to the St. Clair Saints (3-1) by a score of 78-67.

St. Clair took an early lead in the opening quarter with a 3-pointer. Falcons guard Mikhaila Wright (London, ON) would respond with a triple of her own, however the Saints did not let up. St. Clair continued to shoot well from the field, hitting 42% of their shot attempts. After the first frame, Fanshawe found themselves down 20-15. In the second quarter, the teams exchanged points. The Falcons got buckets from rookies Alison Cotton (London, ON) and Jessica Jordan (Chatham, ON) but St. Clair held a 35-28 advantage going into the locker room.

Fanshawe picked up their defense in the third quarter, then tied the game 40-40 on a beautiful drive from Ashley Galloway (Markham, ON). Unfortunately, the Saints got hot offensively once again, shooting 60% in the final frame. The Falcons could not recover from the deficit and St. Clair took the game 78-67. Wright had a double-double for the red and white, recording 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Fanshawe will look to regroup on Saturday, November 10, when they will travel to Ancaster for a game against the Redeemer Royals (0-4).
