(London, Ontario) – At the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Wednesday evening, the Fanshawe Women's Basketball team (2-0) defeated the Lambton Lions (1-1) by a score of 66-46. Chuot Angou (London, ON) had a game-high 20 points for the Falcons.

The first frame opened with a Lambton bucket. The teams exchanged points until Fanshawe stepped it up defensively and went on a 13-0 run. During that run, Angou knocked down two triples for the home team. She then had a beautiful drive and dish to rookie Alison Cotton (London, ON), who finished at the rim. The Falcons were up 20-9 after the first quarter. A deep 3-pointer from Mary Ingribelli (St. Catherine's, ON) extended Fanshawe's lead. Jessica Jordan (Chatham, ON) then drew a foul on a nice cut and converted the two free throws. At the break the score was 40-25 for the red and white.

Unfortunately Fanshawe went cold in the second half, shooting only 28% from the field. The Falcons would get points from Ashley Galloway (Markham, ON) and Maddy Kielar (Newmarket, ON) at the free throw line. Cotton picked up three of her game-high six offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter to give the Falcons extra opportunities. A nice midrange jump shot from Laura Vere (Stratford, ON) solidified Fanshawe's lead. Despite Lambton's best efforts, the Falcons went on to win the game 66-46.

Fanshawe will take the court again on Saturday, October 27 as they travel to Kitchener to face Conestoga (1-1). The game will be the Falcons first road game of the season.
