Falcons Men’s Soccer Team Kicks Off the Season with a Win

(London, Ontario) – On Saturday, September 9, the Fanshawe Men's Soccer team defeated the Mohawk Mountaineers. The Falcons kept the visitors scoreless, winning 3-0 at the Fanshawe Soccer Field.

 

Both teams opened the match playing strong defense. In the twenty-first minute, Fanshawe's keeper Cameron Lacroix (Sarnia, ON) made a great save and shutout the Mountaineers for the remainder of the game. The first goal of Fanshawe's season was scored by Kyle Cameron (St. Catherines, ON) during the thirty-second minute. Cameron's goal was assisted by fourth year Engjell Qamili (London, ON).

 

The Falcons continued to dominate in the second half of the match. The Birds built on to their lead scoring two goals late in the 90 minutes of regulation. Midfielder, Ibrahim Khalaf struck a goal and assisted his teammate Jakub Bancewicz (London, ON) two minutes later to put the Falcons up 3-0. On the game, Fanshawe outshot Mohawk 21-8.

 

The Falcons look to keep the good times rolling at the Ontario Soccer Centre against the Humber Hawks. The defending 2022-23 OCAA Champions and the Falcons play on Wednesday, September 13 at 4:30 p.m.
