Fanshawe Falcons Men’s Soccer Honoured with OCAA League Awards

(London, Ontario) – Seven Fanshawe Falcons Men's Soccer team members were honoured for their accomplishments this season as the OCAA handed out their 2019 league awards. Fanshawe Head Coach Rob Pereira was named the OCAA West Division Coach of the Year for leading the team to a West Division regular season title with a record of 8-1. This is the second time in his six years as Head Coach that Pereira has received this award.

 

Fourth-year centreback Bradley Heath (Markham, ON) was named the OCAA West Division Defensive Player of the Year and an OCAA First Team League All-Star for the second consecutive year. Heath was a key piece of the Falcons success this season, managing a strong back line and also contributing four goals.  

 

A trio of London natives were also named to the OCAA West Division First Team. Ben Vyfschaft, Tomas Alvarez and Dominic Szyszka were all recognized for their stellar play on the pitch throughout the season.

 

Teammates Ahmad Al Rajie (London, ON) and Ryan Miners (London, ON) were both named OCAA West Division Second Team League All-Stars.   

 

The No. 4 nationally ranked Falcons Men's Soccer squad (10-1, 1st in West) will face the Sheridan Bruins (9-2, 3rd in West) in an OCAA semi-final match on Friday, October 25 at 3pm. The Championship is being hosted by Fleming College in Peterborough.
