(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Falcons Men's Indoor Soccer team captured the Provincial silver medal in Toronto on Friday at the OCAA Championship hosted by Humber College.

On Thursday, the Falcons finished first in their pool after round robin play with a record of 2-0-1. Fanshawe opened with a 1-1 draw against Centennial with the Falcons' goal scored by Dominic Szyszka (London, ON). Fanshawe found their rhythm in game two, quickly going up on the George Brown Huskies and eventually winning 3-1. The Falcons clinched the top seed in their pool with a gutsy 2-1 victory over the Humber Hawks.

In the semi-final on Friday versus Sheridan, Fanshawe took a 1-0 lead right before the end of the first half on a brilliant strike from London native Theodoros Mihalopulos. The Bruins tied the game midway through the second half to force overtime. Neither team was able to capitalize in overtime so the match was decided by penalty kicks. It took 10 kickers to determine the winner, but the Falcons prevailed, going 9 for 10 to advance to the Championship final.

Despite being in control for most of the final game, the Falcons were unable to find the back of the net against George Brown. The Huskies scored in the second half to take a 1-0 lead and would hold onto that advantage until the final whistle. Fanshawe was awarded the OCAA silver medal and midfielders Alberto Barquin (London, ON) and Yan Ilic (Hamilton, ON) were named Tournament All-Stars.
