Williams Named OCAA West Division Defensive Player of the Year

(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Men's Basketball team was honoured with OCAA league awards today. Fifth-year Terence Williams (Windsor, ON) was selected as the OCAA West Division Defensive Player of the Year and a West Division Second Team All-Star. Aidan Whalen (Cambridge, ON) was named to the West Division All-Star First Team.

In his final season, Williams recorded the second-most steals in the league's west division, good for 2.5 steals per game. On top of his steals, Williams also led the Falcons with a 50.3 field goal percentage, 3.8 assists per game, and 4.9 defensive rebounds per game. His quick anticipation and innate ability to lock down anyone he guards is a sight to see. Williams' tremendous leadership and smart decision-making on the court played a huge part in Fanshawe's success this season.

Whalen led the Birds in points per game (16.7) and rebounds per game (6.7) this season. Whalen recorded nine 20-point games and two double-doubles within 16 games. After three strong seasons with the Falcons, Whalen has recorded the 6th most rebounds (309) in Fanshawe's Men's Basketball history. He has also cracked the top ten for the most points scored all-time (715). Whalen's hustle and superb sportsmanship personifies the true meaning of an excelling student-athlete.

Unfortunately, Fanshawe's (11-7, 5th West) season came to an end last Saturday as they were defeated 86-73 by the Centennial Colts (14-5, 4th East) in a crossover playoff game.
