Fanshawe Men’s Basketball Win Four Straight

On Thursday evening, the Fanshawe Men's Basketball team (10-6) was victorious by a score of 92-67 against the Redeemer Royals (3-12) at the Glenn Johnston Athletics Centre.

To open the game, Aidan Whalen (Cambridge, ON) drove to the basket, finishing the first bucket for the Birds. To give the Falcons a 7-5 lead, Josh Loblaw (Toronto, ON) knocked down a triple. Then, Terence Williams (Windsor, ON) showed off his talent on both ends of the floor. He came up big with a huge block and converted on the fastbreak. The scrappy play between the two teams resulted in Fanshawe scoring 11 free throws in the quarter and the Birds led 24-19 to start the second quarter.

In the second, Williams and Steven Okoroafor (Burlington, ON) scored off layups in back-to-back plays. Later, second-year Jalen Derr (Pickering, ON) splashed a three and Williams recorded an and-one to give Fanshawe a 14-point advantage. Jack Tunstill (St. Thomas, ON) converted on strong drives late in the quarter to extend Fanshawe's lead. The Birds went into the half up 22, by a score of 55-33.

Mickey Griffiths (Oakville, ON) contributed to his stat line with a strong take to the rim to give the Birds 60 points. Blake Roy (Springfield, ON) got on the board after finishing on a shifty layup. With a late game clock, Luka Philavong (London, ON) knocked down a three at the top of the arc. The Falcons led 83-51 after three.

In the fourth, the Falcons continued with their dominating presence. Azad Chahal (London, ON) found Whalen in the corner for three.  From there, the Falcons took care of business and won 92-67. Williams had a standout performance as he scored 16 points off seven field goal attempts.
