Another Victory for the Falcons Men’s Basketball Squad

(London, Ontario) – The Falcons remained undefeated during Falcons Fest as the Fanshawe Men's basketball team (9-6) solidified a commanding 104-70 win over the Conestoga Condors (4-11) on Saturday afternoon.

To open the game, Jalen Deerr (Pickering, ON) made a brilliant pass to a soaring Jack Tunstill (St. Thomas, ON) who scored the first bucket of the game. A few possessions later, Deerr swished a corner three. Terence Williams (Windsor, ON) gave Fanshawe an 11-4 advantage by securing an offensive board and going back up for two. Mickey Griffiths (Oakville, ON) would lengthen Fanshawe's lead by scoring back-to-back baskets. Luke Philavong (London, ON) found his way to the rim around two defenders to get on the board. Third-year Aidan Whalen (Cambridge, ON) also splashed a three. It was all Fanshawe after the first quarter as they were up 27-19 over the visitors.

Tunstill made two quick layups to begin the second. Then Josh Loblaw (Toronto, ON) contributed to Fanshawe's success by hitting a three. Seconds later, Williams executed a masterful block on Conestoga's defenders which led to a Loblaw layup. A Deerr three-pointer gave the Falcons 50 points over the Condors 30. Guard, Steven Okoroafor (Burlington, ON) got on the board and Fanshawe had a 54-38 lead at the half.

To start the third, Tunstill scored five quick points. Then, Deerr recorded assists on consecutive plays. The first was to a cutting Williams and the second led to a bucket plus the harm for Whalen. Up 20, Williams made a stellar block that amazed the crowd. Azad Chahal (London, ON) had six points in the game after hitting a shot from downtown. With under a minute to go in the quarter, Tunstill made a great euro-step move to score two. Then, Williams made a clever steal off Conestoga's in-bound pass for an easy lay-in. Chahal also hit his third triple of the game to give Fanshawe the edge by a score of 81-56 to begin the fourth quarter.

Reuben Hasebenebi (London, ON) added to his stat line with a three. Making an acrobatic shot, Gabe Hylton (Oakville, ON) also got on the board. A sweet pass from Matak Agar (London, ON) to Okoroafor cracked the triple-digit score for the Falcons for the second game in a row. All-around team play by Fanshawe resulted in a 104-70 victory.
