(London, Ontario) – The Falcons Men's Basketball team (9-3) had a big win over Redeemer (8-5) on Wednesday evening at home. Fanshawe won by a final score of 89-76 and are currently riding a five game winning streak.

The Falcons and the Royals exchanged baskets in the first frame until a deep triple from fifth-year shooting guard Chris Parker (Toledo, OH) gave the home team a slim 12-7 advantage. Moses Orozco-Rayo (London, ON) then had a strong take to the rim for Fanshawe to make the score 23-18 at the end of the quarter.

D'Andre Austin (Toronto, ON) opened the scoring for the Falcons in quarter two with a pair of made free throws. Good defensive hustle by Mohamed Alor (Winnipeg, MB) led to a Redeemer turnover and a coast-to-coast layup from Orozco-Rayo. A buzzer-beater three-pointer from Parker gave the Falcons a 43-36 lead at the half.

Fanshawe used strong offensive rebounding in the third quarter to get points at the charity stripe. Austin then had a nice stop and pop in the key for the red and white. The Falcons great defensive pressure held the Royals to only eight third quarter points and extended their lead to 57-44 going into the fourth frame.

The Falcons opened the final quarter with a drive and dish from Carter Hawthornthwaite (London, ON) to Zach Soltis (Cambridge, ON) for the lay up. Redeemer then made a push to cut Fanshawe's lead to six points with two minutes left. But the Falcons continued to grab boards and get second chance points to hold onto their lead and ultimately win the game 89-76. Parker scored a game-high 29 points while teammates Austin and Alfred Johnson (London, ON) added 14 points each.

The Falcons will look to bring this momentum into their next game on Sunday when they face CCAA #3 Humber on the road. The next home game for Fanshawe will be on Saturday, January 26 at 7pm against Sault College. The game will be a part of Fanshawe Athletics annual Falcons Fest event, a quad-header with free food and Falcons swag for fans while supplies last.
