(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Women's Softball team (6-8) dropped two games against the St. Clair Saints (10-6) at Stronach Park on Wednesday evening by scores of 6-1 and 16-3.

In game one, St. Clair took an early lead, scoring a run in both the first and third innings. The Saints extended their lead to 5-0 in the top of the fifth frame. In the bottom of the inning, a Laura Chappel (Staffa, ON) single followed by a triple to right field from London native Emily Davis gave the Falcons a run. However, St. Clair would score again in the seventh and went on to win 6-1. Morgan Lowry (Middlesex-Centre, ON) (1-2) was the losing pitcher for the Falcons despite having eight strikeouts. Rya Cowan (4-2) picked up the win for St. Clair.

In the night cap, the Saints scored two runs in the opening inning on errors from the home team. St. Clair then stretched their lead to 6-0 after the top of the second. In the bottom of the inning, Davis had a leadoff single and advanced to second when Nichole Erb (Monkton, ON) was hit by a pitch. Danni Smith (Hagersville, ON) then had a big hit to left field to score Davis. Rookie Katie Berg (Stratford, ON) followed that with a RBI single to notch the Falcons' second run of the game. Unfortunately, the Saints added three runs in the fourth inning. Berg would continue to be strong at the plate for Fanshawe, as she notched another RBI in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 9-3. St. Clair would prove to be too much for the Falcons and took game two by a score of 16-3. Erb (1-4) took the loss on the mound and Olivia Elliott (4-2) recorded the victory.

The Falcons will play a series of four home games at Alumni Field this weekend. On Saturday, September 28, Fanshawe will battle the Mohawk Mountaineers (4-8) at 1pm and 3pm. On Sunday, September 29, they will face the Seneca Sting (0-14) at 1pm and 3pm.
