Poirier Named an OCAA Star of the Week

TORONTO - The following student-athletes have been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending Sunday, Mar. 24:

 

Kaitlyn Poirier
School: Fanshawe
Program: Chemical Lab Technician
Year of Eligibility: 5
Sport: Curling
Hometown: Sioux Lookout, Ont.
Poirier was named a Championship Second-Team All-Star at curling nationals held in Fredericton, N.B. The fifth-year skip and her Fanshawe teammates dropped a close 5-4 bronze medal contest in extra ends against Augustana to finish fourth overall. The Falcons had a five-game winning streak during round robin play, eventually going 5-2. The reigning national champions conceded a 11-2 decision to Douglas in the semifinals before losing to Augustana in the finale.
