TORONTO - The following student-athletes have been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending Sunday, Mar. 24:
Charlie Richard
School: Fanshawe
Program: Business Human Resources
Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Curling
Hometown: Woodstock, Ont.
Richard was named a Championship First-Team All-Star at curling nationals held in Fredericton, N.B., where Fanshawe finished fourth in Canada. The fourth-year skip and his Falcons teammates won six straight times during the round robin after an opening 5-3 loss to Lakeland. Fanshawe ran into familiar foes in the semifinals, losing 7-5 to the eventual silver medalist Humber Hawks. The Falcons then conceded a 9-5 decision to NAIT in the bronze medal final.
