Fanshawe's 32nd Annual Badminton Invitational Recap

(London, ON) - The 32nd annual Fanshawe Badminton Invitational took place last weekend at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre.

Third-year Arpitraj Sinha (Markham, ON) led the Falcons to a third-place finish after dominating in the Men's Singles 'A' flight quarterfinal match with 21-8 and 21-14 victories. Sinha later dropped the semi-final match to Humber's Timothy Lock, the Men's Single champion.

Roshan Jacob (London, ON) also performed well but fell in a hard-fought three-game match to Val Wong from Seneca in the Men's Single flight 'A' quarterfinal round.

Sinha and Jacob teamed up in the Men's Double competition and won three matches before being taken down by the Men's Double champions from Humber in the flight 'A' semi-final match. In the Women's Doubles flight 'A' competition, Eugene Kim (Seoul, Korea) and Xinyi Ge (Chengdu, Sichuan China) partnered and displayed a great effort, but lost in the quarterfinal round to Humber.

Aniket Ramrupwad (London, ON) and Eryn Long (Warren, ON) were crowned the Mixed Doubles Consolation champions after winning four consecutive matches and were triumphant 21-16 and 21-15 in the final match. Notable play by Jacob and Lalaine Siy (Toronto, ON) would secure their second-place finish in the Flight 'B" Consolation competition.

Fanshawe's Badminton team will be back in action on December 9 & 10 at the George Brown College Invitational tournament.
