Overview:  Fanshawe College, under a partnership agreement with the Fanshawe College Student Union, competes in selected intercollegiate sports within the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (O.C.A.A.) and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (C.C.A.A.).  The college maintains competitive status in both associations and has the potential of leading to the National Championship level.  Each varsity team is operated under the direction of a Head coach who reports to the Athletic Officer and/or Manager of Athletics or a designate.

Duties:  The Varsity Team Manager/Trainer reports directly to the Athletics Officer(s) and works under the direct supervision of the Team Head Coach.  The manager/trainer helps prepare uniforms and equipment for all games and practice. They collect and inventory the uniforms after each game, race and/or tournament. The incumbent's duties also include laundry, immediate treatment of sports injuries, protective taping, water management, completing and reporting all incidents/accidents on the required report forms and also maintaining medical records.  The manager/trainer assists in the overall promotion of his/her team. 

All Managers/Trainers MUST attend a practical training session with a Fowler Kennedy Certified Therapist prior to any official assignment.  Manager/Trainers are responsible for cleaning and organizing the Trainers’ room before and after use.  Any need for supplies and/or repairs must be reported on the trainer’s inventory document.

Qualifications:  Candidates should have good knowledge of the sport he/she will manage, and a basic knowledge and understanding of some of the injuries that could occur is preferred along with good interpersonal skills, reliability and punctuality.  Applicants must be a full time registered student at Fanshawe College.  The applicant must have First Aid & CPR and is required to complete a VULNERABLE SECTOR POLICE RECORD CHECK. Preference will be given to students in the School of Health Sciences.

Remuneration:  The Varsity Team Manager/Trainer will be paid the current minimum wage.
