Varsity Sound Engineer Job Description

 

Overview:  The objective of this position is to contribute to the publicity and promotion activities of the Athletics Department, which in turn are aimed at maximizing student participation in and enjoyment of all facets of the athletics programs.

 

Duties: Under the general supervision of the Manager of Athletics or designates. The Varsity Sound Engineer will be the announcer and DJ during Varsity events. They must be able to do the announcing over a public address system. They are responsible for introducing players as well as following pre-written scripts. They will be asked to play a variety of approved music during warm-ups, in-game stoppages, and intermissions. The Varsity Sound Engineer is required to work at all varsity home games which typically take place during the evenings and/or weekends.

 

Qualifications:  A clear speaking voice with a good command of the English language is required as well as a technical ability to operate broadcast equipment. Reliability and punctuality are essential.  A willingness to work with fellow students and staff. Good interpersonal communication skills. Preference will be given to full time students enrolled within the School of Contemporary Media (Broadcast Radio, Broadcast Journalism, Media Theory and Production, etc.)

 

Remuneration:  The applicant will be paid the current minimum wage.
