Overview:  Fanshawe College, under a partnership agreement with the Fanshawe College Student Union, competes in selected intercollegiate sports within the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (O.C.A.A.) and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (C.C.A.A.).  Under the same agreement the college operates an extensive intramural athletics program involving over 5000 student athletes. The objective of this position is to contribute to activities of the Athletics Department, which in turn is aimed at maximizing student participation and enjoyment of all facets of the athletics programs.

Duties:  Under the general supervision of the Manager of Athletics or a designate, the incumbent is responsible for engaging and entertaining audiences in a non-verbal manner at various Falcon games and events. Applicant must be high-energy, outgoing, team-oriented and have the ability to motivate others. Part of the mascot performance includes promoting events, engaging Falcon Fans, and being able to relate and respond to various personalities. The incumbent, when wearing the mascot outfit does not speak but only gestures/mimes.  The mascot makes the event funny and enjoyable to all while maintaining a professional presence that is within the protocol and rules of the game. It is essential to be punctual and responsible. The incumbent is to ensure the mascot costume is well taken care of and clean and adhere to Fanshawe College standards and policies.

Qualifications:  The applicant must have a keen interest in community engagement and performing. The applicant should have a sense of rhythm and be able to dance while wearing the mascot costume. Being able to excite and entertain a crowd using appropriate gestures is critical. Understanding basic rules and protocol of various sports is desired. The applicant must be flexible to work evenings and some weekends and do split shifts. The applicant must be a full-time registered student at Fanshawe College.

Remuneration: The Falcon Team Mascot will be paid the current minimum wage.
