national rankings week 1

(London, Ontario) – In the first edition of the 2019 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national rankings for soccer and golf, all four Fanshawe Falcons teams are represented.

For the first time in their history, the Women's Golf team is ranked No. 1 in Canada to start the season. After an impressive 2018-19 campaign, the Falcons return reigning OCAA champion and CCAA bronze medalist Alyssa Stoddart (Orangeville, ON). The Men's Golf squad is ranked No. 4 in the nation and return four of their five team members, who finished second in the province in 2018-19. The Fanshawe Golf team will begin their season with their host Invitational this Saturday, September 14 at FireRock Golf Club.

The defending OCAA champion Women's Soccer team is No. 3 in the nation after a 1-0 start to league play. The Falcons defeated the Sheridan Bruins 2-1 at home last Saturday. Next up, Fanshawe will be on the road to face the Humber Hawks in a rematch of the 2018-19 OCAA championship, where the Falcons won 3-2 in overtime to claim the provincial title.

The Men's Soccer squad (1-0) sit at No. 5 in the CCAA rankings after defeating No. 15 Sheridan 2-1 in their home opener last Saturday. Fanshawe is currently riding a 28-game OCAA regular season unbeaten streak, dating back to September 17, 2016. The Falcons will be in tough this week, as they face the defending national champion No. 1 ranked Humber Hawks in Vaughan on Wednesday, September 11.
