(London, Ontario) – Fanshawe Athletics, in conjunction with the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) has announced their schedules for the upcoming 2019-20 varsity regular seasons. Fanshawe will look to build off an extremely successful 2018-19 campaign, which saw the Falcons bring home a record breaking 28 OCAA and CCAA medals.
On Saturday, September 7, Fanshawe Athletics will have two home opener Falcons Fest events. The day will start at 12pm, when the reigning OCAA champion Women's Soccer team take on the Sheridan Bruins, followed by the Men's match at 2pm. The Fanshawe Softball team will be playing for the first time at the newly constructed Alumni Field at 1pm and 3pm against the Conestoga Condors. The grand opening of Alumni Field will also be a Falcons Fest event which includes free hot dogs and soft drinks for fans, while supplies last. Also on September 7, the Falcons Baseball team will start their season off against the rival Humber Hawks. The doubleheader games will take place at Labatt Park, starting at 6pm. Tickets for Falcons Baseball games are $5 and are general admission. Fanshawe students with their FANCard and children under the age of six are free.
Both the Fanshawe Basketball and Volleyball teams will start their seasons with a road trip to Conestoga to take on the Condors on Saturday, October 19. The Women's Basketball squad will play at 12pm, followed by the Men at 2pm. Then the Women's Volleyball team will play at 6pm, followed by the Men at 8pm. The Fanshawe Women's Basketball team, Women's Volleyball team and Men's Volleyball team are all reigning OCAA champions. The Men's Volleyball squad are also reigning CCAA National Champions and enter the season having won 49 consecutive OCAA regular season matches.
The Tournament sports schedules have also been released and will begin on Saturday, September 14, when the Golf teams host their annual OCAA Invitational at FireRock Golf Club. The Cross Country squad will be racing in the St. Clair Invitational in Windsor to open their season, also on September 14. The Badminton team will travel to Humber College for their first competition on October 11-12.
