Fanshawe Athletics Announces 2018-19 Sport Schedules

(London, Ontario) – Fanshawe Athletics, in conjunction with the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) has announced schedules for the upcoming 2018-19 varsity regular seasons. Fanshawe will look to build off an extremely successful 2017-18 campaign, which saw the Falcons bring home a record breaking 20 OCAA and CCAA medals.

 

On Saturday, September 8, the Fanshawe Baseball team will start their season off against the rival Humber Hawks. The doubleheader games will take place at Labatt Park, starting at 1pm. The home opener will also be a Falcons Fest event, which includes free hot dogs and soft drinks for fans, while supplies last. Tickets for Falcons Baseball games are $5 and are general admission. Fanshawe students with their student ID and children under the age of six are free. Tickets are cash only and will be available at the gates of Labatt Park on Falcons game days, one hour prior to game time. The Softball team will also open their season against the Hawks, but on the road for a doubleheader in Etobicoke.

 

At Fanshawe Field, the reigning West Division Champion Women's and Men's Soccer teams will also begin their regular seasons on Saturday, September 8, taking on Lambton at 12pm and 2pm respectively.

 

Fanshawe's Women's and Men's Basketball teams will host Humber on Friday, October 19, with tip-offs at 6pm and 8pm. The Women's game will be a rematch of the 2017-18 OCAA Championship game, when the Falcons fell to the Hawks 69-54.

 

Lastly, Volleyball will start their season off with a road trip to Niagara to take on the Knights on Saturday, October 20. The home opener will be the following Saturday, October 27 versus Mohawk at 1pm and 3pm. The Fanshawe Men's team are the reigning OCAA Champions and enter the season having won 31 consecutive regular season matches.

 

The Tournament sports schedules have also been released and will begin on Saturday, September 15, when both the Cross Country and Golf teams host their annual OCAA Invitational. The Badminton team will travel to Humber College for their first competition on October 12-13 and the Curling teams will participate in the Humber Bonspiel on January 11-12.
